The price of creams and moisturizers is astonishingly high.
Eight dollars or more is far too much when you can make
it very easily and cheaply at home. Although it might seem
daunting at first, it is very easy and you will get a lot
out of making your own creams. You also have the freedom
to scent and change the consistency as you wish. By making
your own creams, you also know what is in them and won't
risk having a reaction from the chemicals they love to add to creams.
When making a cream, don't let yourself be distracted.
It shouldn 't take more than half an hour at the most.
The reason you don't want to be distracted by your cat
biting your toes is that beeswax can burn and when the cream cools,
it can form lumps. Set aside a little bit of time and go for it.
I can now make a good cream in fifteen minutes.
You Will Need:
1/3 Cup Of Almond Oil
1/6 Cup Beeswax
1 Tablespoon Herb Tea
Procedure:
Melt the beeswax in a heavy saucepan that
is slow to heat while mixing carefully.
When the beeswax is melted add the almond oil.
You can use other oils but for a cream,
almond oil is best as you will use it every day.
Don't panic when you find that the beeswax
turns milky when the oil is added.
As the oil is cooler than the wax, it starts to solidify.
Keep mixing until the wax is again melted
and the ingredients are mixed well.
Remove the saucepan from the heat
and pour the mixture into a small glass jar.
Make sure ahead of time that your hand can reach
the bottom of the jar or you'll find you won't
be able to get to the cream.
As soon as the cream is in the jar,
put the lid on and start shaking.
Keep shaking until the mixture has cooled slightly.
Take the lid off and add the herbal tea.
This should be prepared ahead of time
and perhaps left to steep overnight.
Take a fork and start mixing.
You'll have to keep mixing until the cream is cool.
To hasten this process, you can submerge the glass
jar in water but be careful to mix fast or it will turn lumpy.
If the cream is lumpy, it doesn't really matter.
The smooth texture is only to please you and so
that the ingredients are mixed evenly. If it is
very lumpy, fill the saucepan with hot water and
simmer with the glass submerged in the water.
Stir the cream as you do this until the lumps disappear.
Then remove and keep stirring until cool.
Essential oils if you use them should be added while the
cream is just warm enough to aid their spread through the cream.
If the cream is too hot, the oils will just evaporate.
Don't add too much or it may irritate
the areas you use the cream on.
Patience is called for when making creams.
The product is worth the care! A cream made
with mint tea is wonderful on chapped or dry skin
and a rose cream is wonderful. The ratio of oil
and beeswax can be changed and experimented with
so that the cream is thicker or thinner.
Honey or glycerin can also be added.

Dissolve 1/4-teaspoon borax in
3 tablespoons warm rose water.
Add to oil mixture, beating constantly until cool.

I'm an avid fan of lip-gloss. I love smothering my lips in it
and I can't have enough flavors. In short, I'm addicted to it.
I guess it's lucky that I can make my own or I'd be bankrupt
by now. The basic lip gloss is a variation on the cream recipe.
It has a different consistency and different things can be
added for flavors. The recipe that I use, only makes enough
for two half inch by half inch containers. This might seem to
be a small amount, but I've found it lasts quite well.
As with most home made products,
a small amount stretches a long way.

You Will Need:
2 teaspoons Almond Oil
1/2 teaspoon Beeswax or Paraffin
1/2 teaspoon Copha of Ghee
1/2 teaspoon strawberry juice
Essential Oil
Procedure:
First melt the beeswax in a slow heating pan.
Then add the Copha or Ghee and melt while you mix.
Add the almond oil and mix.
Remove from heat and pour into containers and using a spoon.
Mix until the lip-gloss begins to thicken.
Add the strawberry juice and blend well into the lip-gloss.
Also add the essential oil into the lip-gloss if you wish.
Once the lip-gloss is fully cool,
store in the refrigerator as the
Copha or Ghee will spoil eventually.
The strawberry juice can be substituted with the juice
or thin pulp of other fruits. Raspberries, coconut,
blueberries, kiwi fruit, apples and oranges work
beautifully but almost any fruit will work.
Just be sure not to add any seeds to the lip-gloss mixture.
The seeds make applying and wearing the lip-gloss uncomfortable.
Strain them out by hand or strain the juice through a piece of clean,
tightly woven cotton. Honey or glucose can
also be used instead of fruit juice.
Although I have listed paraffin as a possible ingredient,
I would suggest you use beeswax. Paraffin isn't as nice.
Almond oil can be safely substituted for olive oil or other oils.
Jojoba oil and coconut oil are nice and work almost as well.
Also, when measuring the beeswax, just estimate.
Although you can melt it and then measure, a good guess
works just as well. If you use essential oils, don't use too much.
One drop will be enough and remember that some essential oils shouldn't be ingested.
Glamour And Beauty SpellYou Will Need:
1 pink candle
Venus or
lovage roots
rose petals
musk oil
A tea of the following...
roses
damiana
ginger
dong quai
coriander
green glass jar
altar
Venus Oil or Rose oil or perfume
Aura of Enchantment Incense
1 small mirror
Procedure:
Mix a tea of roses, damiana, ginger,
dong quai, coriander, & primrose flowers.
Place the dry herbs in a green glass
jar and place on your altar.
On a night of Venus (Friday),
take a bath in lovage roots and rose petals.
Dry yourself and rub musk oil into your skin.
Go to your altar nude and light
a pink candle anointed with
Venus oil or rose oil or perfume
and burn some aura of enchantment incense.
Place a small mirror on the altar.
Gaze into it deeply
Say:
Soft, my skin as Diana's
Smoldering eyes as Aradia,
Sensuous as a Goddess.
Figures of fire that shift and change,
